Stephen Wade Toyota is a graduate of Highland High School and the University of Utah. He is a first-generation dealer who got his start in the car business while working with a Sigma Chi brother (Robert Garff) selling cars. In 1973, he became one of the youngest Mazda dealers in the country with a dealership in downtown Salt Lake City. In 1983, he became a part owner of Ken Garff Ford (Salt Lake City), which he later sold.
He is currently the Owner – Dealer of Stephen Wade Auto Centers from 1985 to present with franchises that include Chevrolet, Cadillac, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, and Sprinter Vans.
In 1996, Dealer Collision Center opened to provide authorized auto body and paint refinishing services, and in 2017, he added Rocky Mountain Collision Center.
In 2018, Stephen Wade Toyota acquired the Brent Brown Toyota dealership in Orem, Utah, now known as Orem Toyota.
He served as past President of the Utah Automobile Dealers Association and also as the past New Car Dealers Representative for the State of Utah. In 2011, he was elected Chairman of the National Automobile Dealers Association. During his chairmanship, he played a major role in helping preserve dealer-assisted financing for consumers when direct lending was being threatened by the newly formed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
In 2013, the New Car Dealers of Utah welcomed Stephen Wade Toyota into the Hall of Fame, recognizing his contributions to the community and the automotive industry.
Today, the Stephen Wade Auto Group has over 700 employees with plans to expand and grow the company.

When I read some of the negative reviews, I was initially skeptical going in. But our experience was the best we’ve had in a car dealership. We worked with Andrew and Mike on the sale side and with Clay on the contract side. We found a used car on their website and went in to check it out. They went for a test drive with us twice on two separate days, explaining all the car features. Everyone was very nice, professional and straightforward. No pressure, no sleazy tactics, everything was transparent. You can decline the IKON GPS as we did, you can decline extended warranty if you don’t want it- we ended up getting it for a piece of mind since it was a used car. We would not hesitate to come back to this dealership.

John the sales person was amazing at trying to get me in a good reliable vehicle that I was able to afford. He did exactly that!! He was not pushy trying to sell it to me and listened to my concerns and was very understanding. I recommend going to him to buy a vehicle. Our Sales Person, Tyson, was amazing! He took away all the anxiety of going through the "haggling" process.
